God is so good

Hi everyone, and happy mother's day to all of you moms out there. We had an absolutely wonderful Mother's Day and it was extra special because Michaela's baby dedication was this morning at church. As a Christian, of course I know that every "good and perfect gift is from God." And, my girls definetly qualify as good and perfect gifts. It is so humbling to be reminded from time to time that it isn't about "us" (Michael and I as parents). We get so wrapped up in worrying sometimes about the girls, wondering what their futures will be like, wondering what kind of choices they will make as they grow. Of course, it is our responsibility to do our best to guide them in the right direction towards God, but ultimately our girls are in the Lord's hands. Every breath any of us take is only because God wills us to breathe.

At the dedication this morning I thought of Hannah from the Bible who waited so long to have a child. She promised God that if He would only give her a son she would dedicate the child to God, going as far as to have him live at the temple after he was weaned, which would have been 2 or 3 years old probalby. And, sure enough, she kept her word when God blessed her with Samuel. With a mother's heart I think of how proud she must have been of her son who walked so closely with God but also how her heart must have ached at times over not having him by her side daily. The Word says that she would travel to see him and bring him a new coat every year, suggesting their visits were few and far between. I can't imagine how hard that would be, but Hannah ultimately knew who Samuel belonged to. She is the perfect example of dedicating our children to God. The service today was short, but so sweet and meaningful. And, plus, doesn't she look just too cute in her little pink dress?!

Michaela has started eating cereal. She is absolutely loving it...she has been wanting to nurse about every 45 minutes so we decided she needed more. She is getting little rolls on her legs and her little double chin continues to grow! Wouldn't it be nice if our little "rolls" were so cute as adults?!
