Okay, so lots of life has happened since I wrote last. So much life in fact, that I haven't had much of a chance to check my email let alone write a new blog.
Michael got to spend 2 lovely nights in the most expensive "hotel" in town, St. John's Hospital...unfortunately, it was not "all expenses paid." He had a drug resistent strain of staph infection in his arm. We had about 12 hours of really being scared about it b/c there was a concern that it had worked it's way down into his elbow joint which can be a very serious thing...lots of time off work, surgery, etc. But, praise God, we caught it in time. He still got to spend about 1 1/2 weeks off work overall, but it is all better and he goes back to work tomorrow.
Because of my time up at the hospital, Michaela has officially begun the weaning process. She stayed up at the hosital quite a bit with me but it was just easier to give her a bottle and she spent big chunks of time at my parents with a bottle. We are down to just nursing a couple of times a day.
On Thursday the 26th, we attended Lonnie Owens' funeral, which was incredibly hard and emotional. All 6 of his children and 2 son in laws spoke with incredible strength and shared some of their favorite memories of their dad. It was a hard couple of hours but also healing to get to finally grieve with the family as they had spent the days following his death in Washington where the accident happened.
We celebrated our 6th anniversary on the 28th. My parents watched the girls and we began the evening with a meal at Maria's Mexican. Usually this is one of my favorite places to eat, but they were a little off their game that night so we were a little disappointed. We decided to go to the Mud Lounge for dessert. Then we drove around some of our favorite neighborhoods looking at all of the great houses and talking about which ones we liked and which streets we would love to have a house on one of these days. We ended our date by going and seeing the new Harry Potter movie. Pretty good, but not as good as the book.
Gracie has continued to do great with potty training. She hardly ever has accidents anymore. She even wakes up with a dry diaper a lot of times! We still haven't gotten her to do the #2 on the potty but she will soon I am sure.
We have had a couple of great playdates with some friends. I have included a picture!
It has been a full couple of weeks and we are so thankful God has healed Michael's arm in a timely matter so that he can go back to work. Thanks to all of you for checking in on him and praying for him.
Talk to you soon! Amanda
